August 2015

We absolutely loved our stay at Newberry Manor for our leadership team retreat. The hosts were very helpful as we planned our trip (responding quickly and helpfully). I am sure we will return to this home again in the future. The pictures of the home do not begin to show the charm inside (or out). It is truly a beautiful and relaxing place to stay, as a getaway, or for a group retreat.

The kitchen was the most surprising part of this "old" farmhouse. I was pleasantly surprised to find the beautifully updated and stocked kitchen that met all of our group cooking needs.

June 2015

I was not sure of my arrival time and finding the lights left on for me was heartwarming! The home is warm & welcoming. Surroundings peaceful & picturesque.

May 2015

We had a great experience here. There were 6 of us coming from different directions and the owner helped us find our way. She also helped with suggestions for fun activities around the area. The house was very clean and simple. I loved the decorations and the wood floors! It's very peaceful.

May 2015

House was beautiful, very quiet place. Had everything we needed.

January 2015

We booked our stay at Newberry Manor as a retreat to ring in the New Year with friends. What we found exceeded our expectations. The charm and character of the house are matched with modern, tasteful updates. We loved the spacious layout of the house, clean, cozy environment, nice linens, and an exceedingly spacious and a well-updated kitchen that supplied almost everything needed to prepare copious amounts of food. The majority of our time was spent between the cheery vintage table in the kitchen and the dining room by the fireplace. The house is beautifully set between tall trees with a picturesque view of the mountains from the front windows and porch. The environment is quiet and peaceful. We saw a magnificent sunrise and sunset during our stay and even squeezed in a hike at Hanging Rock. Newberry Home Accommodations Gallery Directions Reviews Contact Newberry Manor Manor is a treasured find and one I believe we will be returning to again. I highly recommend staying here. You will find a home away from home.

Our card and bottle of wine were an unexpected and winning greeting upon arrival. The house is nicely updated. You have great taste! Loved the vintage touches. It was nice having easy access from the driveway to the kitchen. We loved have the extra "wing" in the kitchen with sink. It was a great landing area for all of our stuff and made packing up a breeze. Enjoyed the comfy beds and nice linens (I especially loved the leather headboard in the front room!). Great table in the kitchen - it was the perfect social hub for drinking coffee, preparing food and playing games over drinks late into the evening. Other thoughtful touches we enjoyed: blankets for naps on the couch, a piano, board games and cards, Christmas decorations, lovely soap in the bathroom.

December 2014

We had a lovely family retreat at the Newberry Manor. We spent a day hiking in Hanging Rock State Park, which boasts views of the entire area, made many meals in the spacious and modern kitchen, explored the property's historic dairy farm structures, and spent evenings building fires and enjoying the Christmas tree. The area is quiet and the house is well designed and beautifully decorated, updated with simple and modern charm. The house fits 10 comfortably, has plenty of bathrooms, lots of plates and utensils, and great appliances. The beds are comfortable and the bedding is nice. Stan and Bettye were wonderful hosts — very accommodating, and responsive. We will certainly keep this spot in mind for future vacations!

December 2014

We had to travel to the area under the unfortunate circumstances of a loss in the family, something no one is ever ready to face. However, arriving at this home and meeting the amazing hosts was a first step down a far, far better path. The home is spacious and clean and has everything modern a person could want while still retaining an old world charm. The property is huge and wonderful for wandering around and taking walks, and sitting around a nice fire in the evenings was a fantastic experience. The hosts could not be nicer people, so friendly and willing to chat and offer recommendations of places in the area; they just go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. They were even gracious enough to invite us down to their farm! We cannot wait to come back and stay again, this time under better circumstances and for more days!

November 2014

As a college student far from home, I often miss having a family Thanksgiving. This year, a group of 10 friends and I stayed at Newberry Manor to have our own family Thanksgiving. We could not have been more pleased with our stay! The house far exceeded our expectations. The beautiful wood floors, indoor fireplace, large dining space, and well stocked kitchen gave each of us a sense of home to share together. I would come back to stay at Newberry Manor in a heartbeat. None of us wanted to leave! November 2014 This is a great place to stay. The house is very clean, comfortable and has great views and lots of original character. The beds are comfortable and the decor is tasteful and uncluttered. Our family enjoyed spending time outside exploring, lounging, and dinners in the dining room in front of the fireplace. Betty was available and helpful. She left the lights on for us, which was welcoming when arriving at night. The wifi hotspot worked fine for us, but we didn't try streaming a movie or anything. ATT received zero reception at the house, so be prepared if that's your carrier. The house is set back from the road a decent amount and hardly any traffic makes the house feel pleasantly remote. Planning to return and would definitely recommend to friends.

November 2014

It is a perfect place for the whole family to gather for an event. The owners were delightful and very accommodating. The house itself was beautiful, comfortable and super functional. I highly recommend this property!

October 2014

This home was definitely, the most down home house we have stayed in. The decor was so eclectic farmhouse cool! We didn't wanna leave, our family will be back very soon, we're gonna make this a yearly fall visit! The mountain views and air was amazing. Thanks Bettye, we will see you again.

September 2014

We loved the house - it has such a warm, cozy feel and is great for accommodating large groups (we were able to comfortably sleep a group of 13 girls). It is spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The property is beautiful, with gorgeous trees and vegetation. The hosts were very welcoming and we enjoyed meeting them. The only downside: many of us were unable to get cell phone service in the area, and the wi-fi was only strong in some parts of the house. Maybe not the best place to stay if you'll be needing lots of cell service/internet access. Otherwise, it was great!

August 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend in this lovely, restored farmhouse. We had a great time buying produce at the local fruit-and-vegetable stands, and cooking in the large, well-equipped kitchen. When we weren't hiking in nearby Hanging Rock State Park, we enjoyed sitting on the back porch, watching the hummingbirds fight over the lovely flowers that Bettye and Stan have planted near the charming, historic outbuildings. The house is a great place to rest up - the beds are extremely comfortable, with high quality bedding, and very quiet. We will definitely visit again, and we have already recommended this property to our friends.

July 2014

Very interesting and comfortable place. Hosts really spent effort to make sure everything was Ok. The house is very comfortable and in an isolated and pristine environment. House is at the end of a intense update and thus there still a few logical gaps - no AC in first floor, lack of toaster, no wash-machine...But attitude counts...I am pretty sure they will finish it soon. Wonderful place with many high class details for a Farm-house. Suggestion: do not forget to bring your groceries since there are no stores closer than 30 min. Ideal place to read a book or- actually -write one. Here you will be as isolated as it gets in NC...

June 2014

I HIGHLY recommend the Newberry Manor. First of all, the pictures don't do the space justice. Secondly, the hosts were outstanding! They took excellent care of us and went above and beyond. Every single person said they already want to come back. The Newberry Manor is spacious, secluded, quiet, fun, well kept, well decorated and very accommodating. Even the details were well thought through like a book of nearby attractions to visit, charcoal for the grill, fire already built in the fire pit waiting to be lit, soap and extremely nice towels in the guest bedroom, wifi if needed...everything was perfect.
